Woodland Project

Visitors to the village hall are invited to enjoy the ‘Pitman’s Trail’, an all-weather, fully accessible nature trail that runs through woodland originally planted as part of the reclamation of the former Bardon Mill Colliery. Over the past couple of years, our volunteers have been transforming this area into a place full of wildflowers, butterflies and birdsong! More than 500 trees have been planted. There are woodland glades, environmental sculptures and places to sit to enjoy distant views over the Tyne valley.

The village hall is ideally suited for educational use, and we have a full stock of field study equipment available for the use of visiting schools.
