Call out for community members to perform in “Beyond the End of the Road” – a unique Northumberland musical
When the city meets the Northumberland countryside, all it not what it seems…. what’s the news ‘Beyond the End of the Road’?
Bardon Mill and Henshaw Village Hall is delighted to be taking part in ‘Beyond the End of the Road’ a musical set in a small community in rural Northumberland. To complete the cast, members of the local community are invited to a performance workshop with November Club.
November Club has travelled across Northumberland, chatting to local residents, collecting stories and anecdotes to create this new performance exploring rural life. The material, an inspiration for this musical, has been taken from work completed with seven villages and a livestock auction mart (Hexham).
Beyond the End of the Road will be performed by a professional cast, together with the support of special appearances from local talent. Music and songs composed by Katie Doherty, who has taken her inspiration from local folk and traditional music. The performance at Bardon Mill and Henshaw Village Hall will be unique to the area, its people, and its stories.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a performance, which explores the real dynamics of life in rural Northumberland. To allow us to complete the cast for the performances we are looking for:
- Performers – no experience necessary, just interest and desire to ‘have a go’, to join the Beyond the End of the Road’ performing ensemble – small acting parts are available, to both males and females of any age (over 12 years old).
- Also, there is an opportunity to perform a ‘turn’, which will not be scripted, it will be your chance to perform -singing a ditty, reciting a poem, telling a tale from the area or sharing your favourite joke.
To perform in the show, you will need to be available for the performance on Sunday 25th June and a handful of rehearsals leading up to this time, specifically Saturday 24th June to take part in a rehearsal with the whole cast.
